Eligibility for SNAP benefits is based on your income and the number of people in your household. To see if you may be eligible, review the following charts or use the Department of Human Services’ Food Stamp Eligibility Screening Tool. (Clicking on the link will open a new window.)
General Screener
If no one in your household is elderly (age 60 or older) or disabled, use the following income guidelines.
| General Household size | 1 | 2 | 3 | 4 | 5 | 6 | Each additional |
| Gross Income | $1,671 | $2,248 | $2,823 | $3,400 | $3,978 | $4,553 | $575 |
Elderly / Disabled Screener
If anyone in your household is elderly or disabled, use the following income guidelines.
| Elderly/Disabled
Household size |
1 | 2 | 3 | 4 | 5 | 6 | Each additional |
| Monthly Gross Income | $1,806 | $2,430 | $3,052 | $3,676 | $4,300 | $4,922 | $622 |
Both eligibility guidelines are gross income tests. You must also meet a net income test in order to receive benefits. The Department of Human Services will make that determination at the time of application.
The only way to know for sure if you qualify is by applying for food stamps.
