Eligibility for SNAP benefits is based on your income and the number of people in your household.  To see if you may be eligible, review the following chart or use  the Department of Human Services’  SNAP Eligibility Screening Tool. (Clicking on the link will open a new window.)

Household   Size 1 2 3 4 5 6 Each additional
Gross Monthly Income $1,831 $2,469 $3,108 $3,746 $4,385 $5,023 +$642

Eligibility guidelines apply from October 2015-September 2016

Meeting the above income guideline is the first step toward SNAP eligibility.

The second eligibility step must be determined by DHS.  They will deduct certain expenses from your income to see if you meet the net income test.

If anyone in your household is elderly or disabled and your income is higher than the amount in the chart, you may still be eligible.

The only way to know for sure if you qualify is by applying for SNAP.
